Hot Air Balloon Night

So we spoke before about my excitement over the Great Texas Balloon Race, right? Well, it was this past weekend in Longview, TX and I WAS THERE!

I headed over with the Morgan family, who are incredibly entertaining and wonderful. Made it all the better. We saw some sky divers (or Scuba divers if you're 4-years-old) then grabbed a bite to eat. And then the balloons began.

I took this first picture thinking it would be the best of the night... wrong... :)

It got better! But we started out with a little scavenger hunt trying to locate all of what they call the "Special Shapes" balloons. They are actually attached to baskets and they fly and everything.

National Anthem and then all the baskets fired off their torches! IT was crazy cool, or incredible scary if you're 2-years-old... and I'll agree it did kind of look like we were surrounded by instant fire...

But we picked a spot right in the middle of the field and balloons started going up ALL around us. Really.

And as the sun set I got the very best pictures of the "Balloon Glow". Which apparently first got it's start here at the Great Texas Balloon Race years ago.

And then I got these two...

They are my favorite. Taken on my little point and shoot camera... so proud.

Do something today that you've always dreamed of, like hot air balloons or well, maybe just watching the Olympics with a large bowl of popcorn and M&Ms... may have done both this weekend (the antenna get's great Olympic reception!)

Happy Dreaming...

Excuse Me... I was in Colorado

Sorry for the break... you know, the month long one.

I was spending time with my sweet husband...

In the cool, crisp mountains of Colorado...

And then my sister came too!! She's kind of incredible.

It was pretty much a blast EVERY single day!

So we've got come content to come soon, many stories to tell, you know, the usual: light shows, zip lines, crazy airplanes....

But the summer's almost over and we've got work to do around the Hess house. You know, painting, hanging something/anything on the walls, and you should see the garden!

Happy Summer! I hope yours is a lazy or productive as you had hoped it would be. Still a few weeks left!

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July! May we remember our forefathers and how they kind of went against the rules to give us this country... and the men and women who have fought to keep it free!

You know, like my 93-year-old Veteran neighbor.

Who helped my mow my lawn today, and we have LOTS of grass, well, grass/weed mix.

But my neighbor, he's that cool. Didn't even have to ask him, he just heard my weed eater going and drove right over on his big 'ole riding lawn mower. And it was hot out there, but I gave him some water and he said that's all he needed. He's kind of fabulous actually. See he didn't help me last night when I was mowing the front yard because he was busy digging a stump out of his backyard.  #wanttobehimwhenI'm90

Sorry I don't have his picture yet, I'm not ready to say, "can I take your picture and put it on the internet and talk about you other people can read it??"

But Happy 4th of July! I hope you have the day off too. And that you can mow your yard with your 93-year old neighbor. And feel the crazy crazy burn in your muscles after 2 days of Jillian Michael's workouts AND using a weed eater for the first time.

Maybe you're at picnics or parades. Happy 4th. I'll be celebrating tonight with fireworks... my favorite. But that's a story for another day!

Enjoy, and I'll be back soon with LOTS and LOTS of pictures and posts!!
